Human Being

I come from a small paper mill town in northern Maine and am influenced by a family history of carpentry.  I received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine in 2001 and have been licensed as a professional engineer since 2008.  I’ve spent the bulk of my time as a structural engineer and in 2014 I began to explore architecture as a possible new path.  I currently live in the North Shore with my wife and our small dog.

Structural engineering things still matter to me, but only insofar as those skills help me realize my more creative endeavors. My previous experience is very insightful and heavily influences my creative process in thoughtful, pragmatic ways.  I care deeply about details and craftsmanship, the intersection of traditional and digital fabrication techniques, as well as environmentally conscious architecture that fosters relationships through cultural experiences.

In 2019 I graduated from the Boston Architectural College with a Master of Architecture and I have nearly three years of architectural experience working on a range of projects - Housing, Academic, and Hospitality.  I also have seventeen years practicing as a civil engineer specializing in structural analysis and design, as well as craftsmanship skills rooted in a family history of carpentry.

I’ve also spent countless hours with my grandfather, a master carpenter, in his woodshop and my summers working with him building and renovating residences.  An opportunity that incredibly few people get and a skill I still use today.  Given this combination of experience, I have a vested interest in making physical models by means of both traditional and digital fabrication techniques as a way of exploring design.
